Target the right messengers

This is where you choose which volunteers a campaign reaches, based on the kinds of groups they have. You set it as part of building each campaign.

Targeting means picking the groups a campaign is for. You choose by the type of group, online or in person, and by the labels on it for who is in it and what it talks about. A volunteer sees the campaign only when one of their groups fits what you picked. If you leave a filter open, it fits everyone. Aim narrowly when a message is written for a specific crowd, because a message that lands with one group can annoy another. Aim wide only when the message truly fits everyone. When in doubt, picture the group you wrote the content for and aim at that.

  1. In the campaign editor, open Targeting.
  2. Pick Network types: Digital, In Person, or leave both off to reach either.
  3. Add Tags to narrow to certain audiences or topics. Leave the tags empty to reach all of them.
  4. Watch the Targeting Preview to see how many messengers and networks match before you publish.
