Audience and topic tags
Tags are the labels Echo puts on each network automatically. There are two kinds. One says who is in the group. One says what the group is about. Echo reads the volunteer’s description of the network and picks the labels from a list the organization manages. Volunteers never set their own tags, and admins do not tag each network by hand. Tags are the bridge between a network and a campaign, because a campaign aims at certain tags and reaches the networks that carry them. The labels are only as good as the descriptions they come from, so honest, plain descriptions produce accurate tags.
